Achievements of BISCC.

1. SYMPOSIUM

BISCC organized its first Symposium ?Modern Catholicism and Culture - from December 2-5, 2002. 35 Scholars participated. A second Symposium on Modern Catholicism and Ethics took place from Nov 12-14, 2003. 35 Scholars participated. A third Symposium was organized from December 5-7, 2005 on Catholic Social Teaching and Modern Society, attended by 45 scholars.

2. BASIC THEOLOGICAL PROGRAMME

BISCC has developed an one-year Basic Catholic Theological Programme which it offers to University Students and other adults. The first programme opened on the 11 October, 2003 with 20 students. The programme has been offered again in 2004, 2005 and 2006. A total of 50 students have graduated from this programme.

3. JOURNAL OF CATHOLIC STUDIES

October 2004 saw the publication of the “Journal of Catholic Studies”. This was a first issue published by BISCC, and the first Catholic Academic Journal published in China since 1949. It was also the first Catholic Academic Journal published in China since 1949. The second volume was published in 2005 and a third in 2006. Some articles from the symposia and research works will be published in the Journal.

4. SPECIAL RESEARCH PROJECTS

In the present, there are two special research projects are under consideration. First project is the research works on the bibliography of publications of Chinese Catholic Church before 1949. Second one is a research work in the field of Catholic Social Teaching and Chinese modern society.

5.SAPIENTIA SCHOLARSHIP

To promote the study of Catholicism, on 6th Jan. 2007 BISCC sets up Sapientia Scholarship for those who are doing Catholic Studies in Chinese Universities and Institutes.
